Quick answers

Use these notes to narrow down common Commitick questions before contacting support.

Add folder

Start with a selected project.

Commitick monitors folders you choose. If a folder is unavailable, moved, renamed, or blocked by macOS permissions, reselect it when the app asks for access.

Monitoring

Read the project status first.

Project status can show whether Commitick is monitoring, paused, waiting for changes to settle, or ready for an intentional action.

Snapshots

Automatic history waits for meaningful changes.

Commitick is designed to wait for settled changes before creating local snapshot history, instead of recording every tiny file event.

Snapshot Now

Mark a point before risky work.

Use Snapshot Now before refactors, dependency changes, experiments, or any point you want recorded intentionally.

Push Now

Push only when you choose.

If you use Push Now, snapshot history goes to the Git remote you configure. Commitick-operated services do not receive your source files or diffs.

Pause / Resume

Quiet a project temporarily.

Pause monitoring when a project needs quiet, then resume when you want Commitick to continue automatic snapshots.

Rules

Tune noisy projects.

Use rules and ignore settings for generated files, local-only folders, build artifacts, or other paths that should not drive snapshot decisions.

Branch safety

Your active branch stays yours.

Commitick does not switch your active branch behind your back and does not rewrite your source working tree during normal monitoring.

Privacy

Keep sensitive details out of email.

Do not include private source code, private diffs, full folder listings, payment details, or sensitive file paths in support emails unless support asks later.
