Privacy — WhatChanged

Last updated: May 1, 2026

WhatChanged is designed for local, read-only file, folder, and text comparison across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Policy

Information we collect

WhatChanged does not require an account. WhatChanged does not collect personal data, file contents, or folder contents.

No account

You can use WhatChanged without signing in.

The app does not ask you to create an account for comparisons.

No content collection

Your files and folders are not collected.

WhatChanged does not collect personal data, file contents, folder contents, or pasted text.

Comparisons

How comparisons work

Comparisons stay local on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. WhatChanged does not require an internet connection for comparisons, and it does not modify or delete your original files.

iPhone and iPad

You choose what to compare.

Use WhatChanged with files, folders, or text you select, including items shared through iOS and iPadOS workflows such as Files and the share sheet.

Mac

Finder access is explicit.

Choose files or folders directly, or use Finder integration for files and folders inside folders you explicitly add.

Local data

Reports, recent comparisons, and cache

Reports, recent comparisons, settings, ignore rules, comparison options, and cached values are stored locally. They remain until you delete them in the app or remove the app.

Tracking

Tracking, analytics, and third parties

WhatChanged uses no tracking, third-party analytics, third-party crash reporting, diagnostics, telemetry, remote logging, or third-party services.

Choices

Your privacy choices

You choose what to compare. You can delete reports, recent comparisons, cached data, and settings from inside the app. Removing the app also removes app-local data.
